Alan 'Daddy' Baggs, Founder of the Optimists.

'Baggs was the kind of man everyone would naturally call 'Mister.' He commanded respect and led by example.'

Al played baritone in Optimists until, I believe, 1963. Al Passed away Dec 16 2000.

Al Morrison

During the late 50s and early 60s Al marched with the Toronto Optimists and, later, with the Canadian Commanders. He also instructed a number of corps in the Toronto/Hamilton area. Most recently, Al played mellophone in the Alumni Corps. He passed away on March 24th, 2006.

Doug was with the Corps from inception. He played soprano, wrote wonderful field shows and was a close friend of Barry Bell.

Gary Corbett

Gary played soprano in Toronto Optimists from 1959 through 1965. Most recently he's been playing lead soprano in the Alumni Corps. Gary passed away on May 5th, 2006.

Henry Beben

Henry had been involved with the Optimists from the very beginning. He was a member of the Boy Scout Band that began it all, then Opti-Corps, the Toronto Optimists and the Optimists Alumni. Henry was also a former Corps Director of the Optimists Alumni and was instrumental in the corps obtaining it's uniforms. In addition, Henry was a key organizer of every Optimists' reunion from the 1980s up until 2008. Henry passed away on September 30, 2016.
