What are you doing next summer?

Perform with The Optimists Alumni!

2016 marked our first venture into the DCI SoundSport arena and we returned home with a Gold Medal. Our new repertoire is based on a Mardi Gras theme. To go with that theme we are wearing Mummer costumes instead of our green uniforms; however, we will be back in Green for our Christmas parades. The image on the left shows Dave Mackinnon, our Music Director. Dave is also Brass Supervisor for the Bluecoats, the 2016 DCI Champions. Our new style is definitely not traditional Drum Corps but it is fun! And the audience loves the change! We're excited about this experiment and we hope you will enjoy our new show.  Check us out. Better yet, Come and Join us!

Why should you join? We’re having fun and it's even more fun to share with friends. We travel a little, hang out with old friends, make new ones and get to entertain others which leaves both them and us happy. Of course, we do have to rehearse; however, at two rehearsals a month our schedule is lighter than other Alumni Corps. Perhaps you're concerned about learning to play all over again? I'd be lying if I said that it would not require some effort; however, we are not a competitive corps and, since this is a hobby, we do it for fun. The skill level of our members varies and, while none of us are stars, we work together to create a great show. We're looking for people who share our enthusiasm and are willing to make a commitment to the corps while striving to improve. Of course, if you don't want to play but are interested in what we do there is always room for support staff and colour guard members.

Everyone is welcome at our rehearsals. Even if you’re not interested in joining, feel free to drop in for a look and a listen. We love to have an audience. Who knows, you might just decide that you'd enjoy doing this. Interested? To learn more please Click Here.
