What are you doing this summer?
Perform with The Optimists Alumni!
2016 marks our first venture into DCI SoundSport. We have a new repertoire
based on a Mardi Gras theme and we will be wearing Mummer costumes instead
of our green uniforms. The image on the left shows Lorne Ferrazzutti in one of the
costumes (each costume is unique). It's definitely not traditional Drum
Corps but it is fun! We're excited about this experiment and we hope you will enjoy
our new show. Check us out. Better yet, Come and Join us!
Why should you join? We’re having fun and it's even more fun to
share with friends. We travel a little,
hang out with old friends, make new ones and get to entertain others
which leaves both them and us happy. Of course, we do have to rehearse; however, at
two rehearsals a month our schedule is lighter than other Alumni Corps.
Perhaps you're concerned about learning to play all over again? I'd
be lying if I said that it would not require some effort; however, we
are not a competitive corps and, since this is a hobby, we do it for
fun. The skill level of our members varies and, while none of us are
stars, we work together to create a great show. We're looking for people who
share our enthusiasm and are willing to make a commitment to the corps
while striving to improve. Of course, if you don't want to play but
are interested in what we do there is always room for support staff
and colour guard members.
Everyone is welcome at our rehearsals.
Even if you’re not interested in joining, feel free to drop in
for a look and a listen. We love to have an audience. Who knows, you
might just decide that you'd enjoy doing this. Interested? To
