It's time to start making plans for next summer!
Consider joining The Optimists Alumni
Why should you consider joining? In a nutshell because we’re having
fun and we want to share our good experiences with our friends. We
travel a little, hang out with old friends, make new ones and get
to entertain others which leaves both them and us happy. Yes, we do
rehearse; however, at two rehearsals a month our schedule is lighter
than other Alumni Corps. Perhaps you're concerned about learning to
play all over again. I'd be lying if I said that it would not
require some effort; however, this is a hobby and we do it for fun.
We are not a competive corps. The skill level of our members varies and none of us
are stars. What we value most is a willingness to commit and to try to improve.
Of course, if you don't want to play, we always
have room for support staff and colour guard members.
For the first time our show has a theme —
West Side Story. The opener is "TONIGHT" followed by "JET
SONG" (with drum feature) before our concert of "I HAVE A LOVE" (expanded from our 2014
show). Our closer is "AMERICA" and "SOMEWHERE". For shows that offer an expanded
performance time frame we also have an encore, our colour presentation of "THE MAPLE
We hope you enjoy it. Check us out. Better yet, Come and Join us!
Everyone is welcome at our rehearsals. Even if you’re not interested
in joining, drop in for a look and a listen. We love to have an audience.
Who knows, you might just decide that you'd enjoy doing this.
