Sadly another former Optimist is no longer with us. We have just learned that Bill Jay passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013. Bill marched with the Toronto Optimists, was Drum Major for the Optimist Bantams and marched with the Jesters.

Obituary

At Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, April 21, 2013, Bill Jay, Palgrave, at the age of 75 years, beloved husband of almost 54 years of Marie Elford. Loving father of Brian, Christine, Scott and his wife Ruby. Adored grandfather of Cecilia, Tysen, William, Charlotte, Ryan, and Bryce. Dear brother of Betty Murray. Fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Wednesday evening 7 - 9pm. The service will be held in the chapel on Thursday morning, April 25 at 11:30am, followed by cremation.

Congratulations to Taunia Borsellino on the birth of her second daughter, Allison Elizabeth Borsellino (born yesterday morning, Nov. 11th). Taunia now has 2 girls and a boy. And that makes 14 grandchildren for Taunia's parents, Cindy & Rick Tracey!

Sadly another Optimist is no longer with us. We have just learned that Warren Mills passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Warren wore the Blue with Opti-Corps, then both Greens of the Toronto Optimists. He aged out in 1962. When the Alumni Corps was formed, Warren joined, playing mellophone. Unfortunately, after a few years health issues forced him to leave the corps.

MILLS, Warren (Retired teacher from Central Technical School, Toronto) (Member of the Toronto Optimists Drum & Bugle Corps and the Optimists Alumni) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Warren Mills, after a lengthy illness, at the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, October 17th, 2012 at the age of 72. Beloved husband of Cheryl (nee Kearns). Father of Gord Mills. Dad to Jennifer Toste and grandfather of Sarah & Matthew Toste. Son of Mary McCleverty (Harry) and the late Gordon Mills. Sadly missed by his sister Shirley Terveld (Jack) and by his nieces and nephews. Dear brother-in-law of Wendy Morgan (Steve). Remembered always by his devoted friends who were like family, especially Henry & Carol Beben, Jim & Helen Patten and Phil & Betty Hennings. Warren was an inspiration, a gift of sunshine, and a true blessing. Following cremation, visitation will be held at St. David's Anglican Church, 113 James St., Orillia on Tuesday, October 23rd from 12 noon until time of Memorial Service to Celebrate Warren's Life at 1 p.m. If desired, memorial donations to the Parkinson Society would be appreciated.
